Holding Out for a Hero

No, but I came thisfuckingclose. On my last day of the summer in '08, when I was working at KBY, I was trying to leave a few minutes early so that rktikfox and I could drive up to Otakon, and I didn't think that would be a problem since I had completed everything that had been asked of me, and our boss usually let us dip out before 4:30 anyway. I'd said "okay, peace, leaving now" and begun to head up the path when he comes bursting out of the camp office and starts cursing me out in front of pretty much the entire staff, just like "GODDAMNIT STAY AND DO YOUR FUCKING JOB YOU KNOW YOU'RE CONTRACTED TILL 4:30 SO WHY THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE AND YOU GET TO LEAVE EARLY, MOTHER FUCKER" (the "mother fucker" was very distinct, I remember it the clearest). He then stormed off and left everyone kind of gawking at me - and like, a lot of the rest of the staff didn't really like me, and even they were like "whoa that was so not necessary." I stuck around and did whatever it was he wanted me to do - which there were already like eight other people doing, so I was basically unnecessary - and about ten minutes later he reappeared and was like, kind of sheepishly, really quietly, all "i-if you need to go then just go." Like, he knew he had done something wrong, but he was still kind of being an ass about it. And this wasn't the first time over the summer he'd treated me with this kind of disrespect (though it was the only time anything that severe happened, certainly).

Also, those 15 minutes or so we got delayed were basically the 15 extra minutes we needed to NOT be late to the con center to pick up our pre-reg Thursday night. We were double-fucked.

tl;dr if it hadn't been my last day and if I didn't LOVE KBY otherwise I would have just said "fuck this noise" and bounced. What an asshole.
